Akanji to undergo surgery and miss up to 10 weeks

Borussia Dortmund’s defender, Manuel Akanji, will undergo surgery on his knee and is expected to be out of action for up to 10 weeks.

The Swiss international sustained the injury during training and medical tests revealed that the best course of action is to have surgery to address the issue.

Akanji’s absence will be a blow to Dortmund, who will have to cope without one of their key players for an extended period of time.
